It stopped working a week ago. When I open it there's a message that says it can't log in.
After I manually enter outlook.com (or dub131.mail.live.com) again it works as usual.
I've tried making a new shortcut, and changing the URL in the shortcut, but nothing works.

Is there a way to fix this?

I also have a shortcut to Onedrive, but that one works.

It gives me the error below when clicking outlook.com.
It gives me this, just like I described in the first post. Only after entering the url again I will get to my mail.

    This is my shortcut:
    Code:
    [{000214A0-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
    Prop3=19,11

    So in short:

    1 - Open IE11
    2 - Go to outlook.com
3 - Gets the error message
4 - Go to outlook.com again and now it works

    It's the same no matter if I use outlook.com, mail.live.com, or dub131.mail.live.com.

Do you possibly have the privacy settings on high in IE?

Could you add these managed websites to the list in the privacy tab of IE or other: outlook.com , live.com, hotmail.com

Edit addendum: This sounds like a cookie issue.

I have never touched the privacy settings, so they're still at Medium. The shortcut have worked for 6 months and then it just stopped working last weekend.

Adding the URLs didn't help either. I also tried to disable all TPLs, but it change anything. Yeah, I'm grasping at straws... :)

Using outlook.com as the start page gives the same error.

I added the URLs to the trusted sites list, but that just caused the site to freak out, it seemed like it started looping a few times, and then it said I couldn't log in.

    Accepting ALL cookies doesn't help.

Yeah, adding domains to the trusted sites list can cause problems sometimes. IIRC, Pirx (an NBR member) had an issue with something in that list that caused a site to misbehave. It took him a while but eventually as a last chance looked in there.

About the only other thing I could suggest is go to the folder where the task bar icons are located and delete all of the icons for outlook.com and then replace it with a new one from the pinned sites page.

This type of thing has happened to me before but I can't remember exactly what it was and how I resolved it.

Have you tried the classic clearing browser cache, history, cookies, etc.? If you make a shortcut for another browser, does it work properly?

Also, are you suing Windows 7 or windows 8.1. If it is 8.1, is it tied to a Microsoft account?

That's a catch 22, since I can't use that link in the first place. ;)

I usually just drag my tabs to the taskbar to pin sites, I've never seen that "pinned sites page" before. Like I mentioned before, making a new shortcut doesn't help.

    Thank you for your help.

    Yes, it didn't change anything.
Yes. It works as expected in Fx and Opera. Only IE can use specific tabs as shortcuts in the taskbar though.
W8.1 December 2014 Update ISO. No MS account.

The weird thing is that this happens even if I click a link to outlook.com, like the link here: http://www.iegallery.com/PinnedSites/Details/15602

So this is not only caused by shortcuts, and that's why I can't see why the shortcut is the issue here. See post#4.

I have no trouble doing this in a fresh install of W8.1 in a VM, of course...
