I have an msi wind u123, and it has win xp 32 bit, it doesnt have a cd drive so i was wondering how i would go about upgrading to win 7, or like win 7 starter <i think the starter is better ? because it is a netbook.

So do i have to buy a digital copy of vista to get to win 7 or ? not really sure how to do it lol.

    * By using an ext. USB CD/DVD drive.

    * If you have the Disc; by copying over the contents on the Disc onto the desktop for example of the u123 and running the 'Setup' installer.

    * If you have the Windows 7 OS ISO file; by creating a bootable USB drive or DVD.

Just a few ways to get the job done.

If you have the disc you can just copy the contents onto the netbook and run the 'Setup' installer (to start the installation process) that's in the copied folder.

So just locate a computer with a dvd drive, get some form of external device such as a flash drive, copy over the folders and everything from the disc to the flash drive and start the installation from within Windows by running the Setup file. That way it doesn't have to be bootable. (So you can run the installation from the flash drive or copy the files onto the desktop for ex. which should be faster for installation)

Sorry, didn't realize you wanted to upgrade as in 'upgrade'. Uh, no afaik you'll have to do a clean install from XP to 7. At least I know for a fact that you have to if you run the setup from within Windows.
