Is it showing only one core in a sidebar app, or in BIOS?

How were you able to fix it? What was the originating problem?

It was where I had messed with the advanced boot process the other day to determine whether it boots faster with the 1 or 2 processor checked and somehow I had only 1 checked and did not have the check box checked where it says number of processors.

BTW The boot time is slightly faster with 2 processors selected, and by default only 1 is selected. I did 3 boot ups with 1 processor selected and the same for 2 and on a average it was 6 seconds faster with 2 selected.

open run type msconfig then enter

    click BOOT tab

    click advanced options

under where it says number of processors click the drop box and select 2

    click OK

    Click apply

    restart PC

Thanks tango, i've altered a few things about your tweak and it has decreased my system startup by about 20 seconds. :D

The amount of memory startup is allowed to use by checking the box beside the number of processes box.

Wouldn't you want startup to be allowed to use all available memory you have?

That's what i do, i allow them to use all the memory available. Before it wasn't allowed to do that. Now it is.

Your lucky because your memory isn't shared and you probably have a faster startup because mine is only 1.9GB.

I am pretty sure those settings are ONLY for multiprocessor motherboards not multicore cpu's. Both cores are utilized during the boot process by default and if you dont touch the memory number the boot process will automatically use all available memory. That section is to PREVENT it from using all available memory. Typically this is for servers with more than one CPU where you want to set aside a certain number of processors and a certain amount of memory for some speiclaized use AFTER the boot process is finished.
