How come there is now DreamScene in Win 7 Ultimate RTM edition?

I am fully activated but still no dreamscene thorugh windows update.

I heard they removed it in favour or the desktop slideshow which I never figured out........

    what the heck is that?

Why? Seems pointless to bump a topic that's less than 24 hours old.

I guess it's extremely important to keep a change that's been implemented since beta at the top of the board.

Truth be told, I'm kinda glad DreamScape is replaced by Desktop Slideshow. It's a lot more subtle...and I'm a lot more productive when I'm not being hypnotized by a constantly moving desktop. O_O

i thought dreamscenes are supposedly gpu intensive. My old vista before keeps eating the damn cpu's always @ 100% usage. Useless.

It was an interesting feature but remember that we live in an era of energy efficiency. One of the problems with Vista was its tendency to constantly run random fluff in the background, preventing systems from entering lower power states. Dreamscene was this sort of thing taken to its logical conclusion - a feature that would guarantee constant load even on an i7.

    I'm not surprised it's gone.

Also, remember that Ultimate is deemphasized in terms of marketing and distribution this time around, there are no "Ulitmate Extras"-which dreamscene was a part of. They are really aiming this at OEM's who want to install it on their high end computers, or have special "ultimate" bundles. :)
