I just got a T61 thinkpad today. The internet was fine when I first opened it. Every website loaded. After I installed AVG, I could not load anything from yahoo or google, with the exception of www.google.com and igoogle which is my homepage. When I try to do a google search, nothing happens. There is no sign of progress, but my browser (firefox) never gives me an error. It just keeps on trying to load. However, I can load a handful of other pages, with the exception of some that I can't remember. I uninstalled AVG and my computer was temporarily fixed. But now the problem seems to be on and off, especially right after I boot up my laptop. Also, Windows Defender has just notified me that I have a trojan known as Win32/Vundo.AY . I don't know what this is, and I don't know if this is related to my problem. Just recently has this trojan been detected. This all happened in the course of a day. Any help is appreciated

Do you have an Anti virus/Firewall installed? Don't count Windows Defender either, because tbh it is not that great of a AV/FW program.

Also, have you tried running any AV's to see if it can clear the trojan?

And did you download AVG from their website, or from another?

See if theres a system restore point available previous to you installing the software.

I don't have any other antivirus program installed. It's hard for me to get any other software now since I have very limited access to the internet. WIndows defender now tells me I also have vundo.gen!R. Windows defender said that it removed the initial vundo, but now I have 2 (the original and this new one). I am reverting back to my earliest system restore point, but even this is when I installed AVG. I will post my results soon.

Everything seems good now. Internet is fully functional. I am installing Avira and MalwareBytes, as recommended by this forum. Hopefully no more problems. Thank you so much
