    - Download nlite.
    - Download the drivers you need (check the motherboard manufacturer's website)
    - Run nlite. (It will guide you through everything, and tell you when and how to add the drivers)

Did you look at gateway's site?

I just went to www.gateway.com, and what do I see on the front page? A link called "drivers and downloads". That seems fairly helpful to me

Since we're looking to download a driver, I suspect this might be a good place to start.
Click on it, fill in your laptops serial number, or the model number, click on 'hard drive downloads', and voila. Sata driver download.

See, it's not at all difficult :)
