I have the v220 and mobile phone tools 3.11 and have tried a later version but when I use the program it just says that it is "initializing" for both versions and never really detects the model or allows any of the features to be used. My computer detects a v220 but that does nothing. I have searched the net on the subject and really have not found any decent help. I have emailed motorola and am awaiting a reply but I know this site is just full of knowledgeable people so here I am. Any ideas? thanks I know this may be the wrong place to post this but I thought I would try.

The V220 has plenty of problems connecting to a PC. If you simply want to transfer files, you could try going into Flash Mode, by turning the phone off and then holding in the * and # keys and then pressing the power (hang up) switch, then connecting it with the USB cable.
