I installed the newest official WHQL Nvidia driver for my 64bit win7 and Nvidia 9600M GT as well as the newest audio drivers for my computer. However, I stuck with generic windows drivers for everything else.

Recently, while playing TF2 and BF2, I noticed unusual choppy performance. In TF2, mostly during gunfights, but sometimes randomly out of gunfights and stuff, my FPS would drop to 20s and sometimes 10s and below 10, and it get's really annoying. It seems to happen when a lot of players are around, but even then, it seems to happen randomly, or that's the way it seems to me. I don't recall this problem with TF2 and BF2 when my laptop had vista 64bit with the same Nvidia drivers. In BF2, the choppy performance happened once when I was randomly near players (I was playing in a high ping server, which I normally don't. could that be why?)

Does anyone else have the same problems? Is this just a win7 performance issue or a driver issue? (maybe I need to install all the drivers instead of using generic windows ones?)

I tried googling the tf2 problem, and I did as much as I could, including setting all settings to lowest, disk defragmentation, turning on/off multicore settings, and I had no success.
