Vista 64 Business - installed for 2 months " NO" issues.

Finally tried the Disk Management app to shring a drive and partition. i.e
Right clik my computer/manage/storage/disk management. C: starts to shrink,
then times out with access denied. Running as administrator, went through several different scenarios and all show full control and permission.

    Anyone???

First of all, you had better make sure you back up your personal documents, just as a precaution.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is to try in the master administrator account. In the command line, type "net user administrator /active: yes" without quotes. Then log out and try in the master adminstrator account. The process can easily be reversed by typing the same thing but with no instead of yes.

    Hope you get it working...

Thanks - Already tried that - too long to have typed out.

Can't figure. All permissions are there and I can access all files just can't run that. In depth Google search finally gave me what you had mentioned.

Guess I'll try a 3rd party app - just like to figure why.

Yeah. That's strange. I had an issue like that with accessing hidden folders, but that was just a Permissions problem. You have UAC on?

UAC - OFF and On no differance. My desktop seems to have all the same settings and no issue.

Notebook is a Thinkpad t61p so wondering if Vista Business or Lenovo software could be interfering.

So it sounds like your Disk Manager is fine, but your HD is protected by something. Like qhn, try temporarily turning off some of your security measures. Also, do you have any sort of passoword protection on your HD?

Yes, yes and yes to all. Man, what a pain in the " " but it still does not work.

Permissions are set as allow all/everyone/administratore, etc. I had a permissions issue same with vista business 32 from the oem install and went to a clean install it was gone.
Xferred to Vista B 64 and wow - no problems, lock uos, bsod's or permissions issues untill this. Was going to do a full re install when final sp1 comes out anyway - just curious. Think its v Bus package related.
