had to fresh install vista on my home pc because it had so many viruses and trojans, i think the root cause of this is my bro and dad downloading music from unworthy sources and installing wares etc. what i wanna know is there a way of preventing my bro and dad from installing and making changes using their user accounts because i know they can do it on their accounts.

You can make their accounts "standard" user accounts in the User Accounts control panel. With UAC enabled, when they try to install any programs or change system settings, they'll be prompted for an administrator account's password.

It's really best practice to have everyone, including yourself, using "standard" accounts for daily use. (Just create a new user account called *your name* (admin)) I do so on my own machine: That's my admin account and all I use it for is for general manitance, etc. I'm only in it maybe once a month. You'll probably never need to touch the admin account, instead you can just use UAC to run programs.
