My Dad has an Acer Aspire laptop and just recently internet explorer has been giving him trouble. When he opens it up, it will flash on and then disappear, almost like a pop-up blocker. I am wondering if anyone has ever ran into this problem and what they did to fix it?

Sounds like either a virus or spyware... have you tried spyware checked (like Adaware) and a virus checker (not sure which ones are available online)
