The Interactual player has several useful features:

    1. It allows you to tap online only features when you are watching a DVD, if the DVD has it.

    2. It also enhances your DVD special features by being able to download stuff from their sites.

    3. Certain DVDs play better with this player because of the enhanced function - Lucas Films uses them (i.e. The StarWars series)

The bad things are tied to the features:

    1. It's set up more or less to track you - it has certain monitoring capabilities

    2. It is also used in part to ensure that you are watching a genuine DVD and not a bootlegged copy.

    3. It also loads up when you boot up your laptop - though some or all of those features can be disabled.

I'd personally get rid of it.

Some DVDs are much cooler on the InterActual player, and they have features that you will not be able to see otherwise. For example, on Domino, you can see the entire script if you are viewing it from the InterActual player (like, you can fast forward or whatever to the scene you like, and it'll go to that part of the script). I'm keeping it, just disabled it from starting up.

Oh, and I don't know what it does in terms of bootleg DVDs, but I haven't had a problem. I use AnyDVD though, so that may be a part of why. AnyDVD is great!
