i repair systems every day and lately have seen a lot of people having issue with windows 7 and usb devices on certain intel chipsets. what happens is plugging in one device such as a printer or a usb wifi will knock all other usb ports out and nothing will be seen unless the problem causing device is removed. for instance a customer had a hp printer that once plugged in would cause any other usb devices to not work their wifi usb would shut down and the usb sticks would not be able to be read though they could be seen as a drive. they would sometimes even crash explorer and need it to be restarted..

anyway the point is the newest chipset drivers can be found here :

    http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...ipset_9.1.1.1020(www.station-drivers.com).exe

and they FIX this issue. so i highly recc updating to the newest ones if you have not already or are seeing this issue.

hope it helps someone out that may be having that same type of problem

Using the latest chipset (chipset, video, audio, network, disk, etc) is IMPORTANT for every OS. Not just Win7.

This is Computer Support 101 level info. It's something that everyone runs into at least once.

Do not depend on third-party websites or even the laptop makers web site for the latest drivers. ALWAYS double check that info with the chipset (Intel, AMD, etc) makers web site.

Usually the chipset drivers should be updated immediately after the OS installation.

LOL! It is just in time for me.
Because this thread appeared right after I re-install my Windows 7.
I have this chipset installed now. ^^!
Works like a charm. Thanks OP.

Oct 10th, thats when newegg is supposed to stock/ship my pre-order for Win 7 I think.

By then I am pretty sure everything will be going smooth with Win 7 and drivers/fixes.
