if i install 7 on the partition of my xp install will i be force to delete the secondary partition or can i just leave my stuff on the second partition and install on the first partition

    edit-
i tought i should point out my first parttion is 40g and second is 160g hence i was wondering if i could just install over xp, not upgrade it as i know you cant upgrade from xp to 7 just wondering if 7 will affect the partition or if it will simply recognize it

Win 7 install will leave your second partition alone.

thx, finished installing ultimatex86 yesterday, run well on the m1710 but unfortunatly if i cant get i8kfangui to work on it i will have to switch back to xp

    xp idle temp with i8kfangui:
    cpu: +or-35c gpu: +or-57c
    win7 idle temp with i8kfangui:
    cpu: +or-45c gpu: +or-65c

now i do understand that since win7 as alot of eye candy it will probably tend to run a bit hotter then xp but my problem here is that i can get i8k to switch on the fan as it was before in xp wich helped in keeping the temp down but ill switch my problem to a new post in order to try to fix my i8k problem as for the win7 part i seem to have no problem, i will try the driver from lv2g as currently i am running the vid driver from win update, anyway ill post a link to my other problem so other user with the same machine may follow.

Why don't you install x64? You have a core 2 duo.

just because most of the software i use are 32bit and i dont want to run in any compatibility bug ounce i decide if i stick with win7 and for now if i cant make i8k work properly ill have to switch back to xp, unfortunatly as so far win7 seems alot more promissing as an os then vista is
