Anyone use iTunes and MSFT Vista (Ultimate)?

It won't let me change any properties of a song (like the name etc...), it must be the idiotic security features of Vista - is there a way to disable all of that security crap? The files are not read-only, I found the iTunes executable and chose run as Administrator. If I go to the default shortcut icon on my desktop and go to the advanced settings page, run as administrator is grayed out.

Are you trying to rename songs in itunes? I have no problem just double click the name and it gives me the option to type where the title of the track is. I haven't disable UAC or run iTunes as administrator.

I had the same problems with Itunes and vista, in the end I gave up looking for a solution and went the WinAmp route. However the things I did try:

look at the windows update list, there are usually a few that aren't installed automatically, some may refer to media and help, but I'm not sure

reinstall Itunes, may help, but as above it didn't help me so I'm not sure.

Man - this seems weird to me. I have Vista Business and I installed iTunes and it works great. I can change names at will. I would suggest you re-install and make sure you are signed in on Vista as an administrator.

Apparently, a lot of people using Vista are having issues with iTunes. If you do a search, you might be able to find one of the very popular threads about it. I never opened it, but I think that you may be lucky in finding some helpful information in it. I can't remember the title of it, but if I recall correctly, it was about 8 pages long or something like that. I hope you can find it, or you can at least find the solution in this thread.

bubbatex's right, try logging in as Administrator with full access to your system, and running iTunes.

If you can change song properties while logged in as Admin then it's permissions/security problem. At least we'll be able to rule this out and go from there.

I really should know more about vista, currently I can only login as 1 person from the boot screen, is there a start program I need to click on to login as administrator? I have already tried running the *.exe as Administrator (right click the file "Run as Administrator")

    ...or, you can try this:

    1. Type cmd in the Search field on the Start menu. Right click the command prompt icon at the top of the Start menu and click "Run as administrator".

    2. Type this into the prompt:
    Net user administrator /active:yes

Now the Administrator account should appear on the Welcome screen. To disable it, repeat the steps above, but type this into the prompt:

    Net user administrator /active:no

    Hope this helps.
