my laptop has yet another problem sorry

right i have a load of error messages and stuff on start up and also i get seemingly random lock ups andthen i have to hit the power button which i know screws the hard drive

anyway my question is if i reinstall my operating system all my stock drivers will this fix the problems

    - at start up i get 5 error messages
it says something live windows canot find
    C:\windows\system32\fCrPHBTj.dll
    the second one
    C:\windows\system32\dqesxxqm.dll
plus roxio thing got killed by a virus and now kicks up 3 error messages and wont let me uninstall repair or install

i have no viruses left i got rid of them all 2 avg scans

all i realy need to know is wil the activsion key be accepted if i get it off my computer now then type it in when reinstalling vista

also is it easy or should i pay someone to do it

very sorry to ask this but im screwed without you guys help

If you have the CDs that came with your Vostro (assuming they're the same that came with mine), you're fine.

    1) Backup your personal data now.
    2) AFTER backing up your data, insert the Vista CD, and choose to install.
    3) Choose to format your OS partition as NTFS.
    4) Let Vista install, inputing whatever it asks you for.
    5) After you get it set up, insert your driver disk and install at least the ethernet driver so that you can establish an Internet connection.
    5) After that, you can get whatever drivers you need from Device Manager or by downloading and running the driver files from the Dell website.
    6) Now put your stuff back on there. ;)
    7) Oh, and follow the wonderful NBR Vista Tips and Tweaks Guide

    :D :D :D

You got hit by a nasty virus.

To save your vista activation use orevs activation and backup tool (ABR). You can find it in the clean installation sticky in the HP section

This will save you the hassle of having to call microsoft

So your D: drive is just for data? If yes, then you can move any stuff you want to save onto there, and leave it alone when you reinstall.

Do you keep all of your personal stuff on there?
What other stuff do you need to put on there?
You'd better make sure you don't have any traces of virus on that drive, or your work will be wasted!
