    i have just got a compaq presario notebook , and i can not back up my oppertating system files . to dvd will only let me do it on the cd drive . ive added a dvd writer and it will not give me the option to use it ,can anyone help if i use cd if will take 12 in total

    can you provide more info (a screenshot of the application) and make sure you have a DVDRW drive and not a DVD-ROM drive.

    Depends on the backup software being used, unfortunately if it's software that comes with the laptop that is specific to making backups for the OS it may be you just can't do it.

    What program is it? Is the DVD writer actually found by the system when you plug it in (I assume it's external?)
