    how do I clone my HDD on a laptop?

    if either HDD's are a Seagate you can download Seagate DiscWizard which is made by Acronis and works great. That's what I used.

    I think they also have one for Maxor drives.

    No I meant the hardware part, any way I can do w/o the USB encloser? I have an enternal 3.5" HDD if that would help.

    If that 3.5" external is in a SATA enclosure, and is removable, and you can plug your 2.5" SATA HDD into it --> then no problem.

    Or you could go for something like this. (Search for it on ebay or newegg)

    create an image file to your external 3.5" drive, then put new drive in, and restore onto the new drive.
