hi guys. I'm new here! I love this forum and I'm in need of some help from you guys!

so i reinstalled vista because of the preloaded dell bloatware on my xps m1210

i reinstalled and everything is fine but i am supposed to have 80gb of space but it shows i only have 62.48GB capacity and 51.68GB free (because of the OS of course and some drivers)

my question is how do i get back all my lost GB.

I ran disk management on vista and it says:

    55MB - Healthy (EISA Configuration)
    10.00GB - Unallocated
(C: ) 62.48GB NTFS Healthy (system, boot, page file, active, crash dump, primary partition)
    2.00GB Free space

so does anyone know how to get those three (55MB, 10G, and 2.00G) back into the primary partition?

thanks im sorry for being so lost

ok guys, so actually i formatted the 10G and the 2G and now it says I have diskdrives E and F.

it's useless at 10G and 2G lol so how do I merge these into with the primary partition?

and how do get rid of that 55MB and put that into with the primary partition as well thanks much

What you need my friend is Norton Partition Magic, you take the spare partitions turn those back into unallocated space, then merge them with your primary partition.

    OR

You can lose everything reinstall Vista again and then add them back to the primary partition during the install process. You delete them then delete the main partition, thus everything is unallocated and Vista installs on the big unallocated partition.

also when i boot up vista to reinstall, it doesn't allow me to delete the partitions.

it says delete, but i can't select it.

The reasons you're having that problem is because you should delete all of your pre created partitions. I know it seems odd but just trust me. Those 10G's and 2.00G and the primary partition... just delete it all and the set up with say "80G of unallocated space)

    then you go from there.

Use GParted LiveCD, just download the iso and burn it to a CD-R using Nero or whatever CD burning program you have, leave the CD in and reboot, go into your bios and make sure you boot from your CD-ROM first then your HDD, then just allow it to access the CD.

You'll need to select some options, just leave everything on default and set the graphics to some low resolution, then you'll boot into the linux OS (yes, it's like a 30 MB OS lol) with lots of options for partitioning and a manual, and everything should be pretty self explanatory from there.

EDIT: Opps ok I see you've solved it. Don't know, is Partition Magic is free?

I'm pretty sure partition magic isn't free.

Thankfully Vista lets you create partitions through the control panel.
