The above names computer has stopped accessing the HD.
Using the rescue and recovery disks in the internal CD drive it will boot up. But it refuses to allow me to wipe the HD when I use these discs. Also when I used the self diagionist test on the R&R discs it says these is a failure to write to the HD.
    Is my HD dead?

I would probably say yes also. Find out which manufacturer made the hard drive (WD, Seagate, etc..), you may have to remove the hdd cover and manually look at it. Then check the manufacturers website for their hdd utility software that will run some diagnostics and tell you for sure.

There is a HDD diagnostic utility that runs from BIOS on these machines. Test the drive from there and report back.

    Good luck.
