    gif image in windows photo gallery (?)

    why wouldnt my windows photo gallery or picasa photo viewer play my GIF images ..they come like still jpg not like an animation.. have to open them with IE or FF..

    any suggestion on how to fix this in photo gallery..??

    XP phicture and fax viewer used to play gif animation..but on vista the improved(?) guy doesnt....

    There is no support for GIF image format in Windows Photo Gallery.

    Use IrfanView for it.

    ...or workaround, by renaming GIF to JPG, if OP wants to stay within Windows Photo Gallery

    no.. i would like to have the animated GIF playin in my Windows Photo gallery.. changing the format would kill the animation..

    seems like i would have to stuck with IE or FF only to play open GIFs.. :)
