I am currently re-installing Windows 7 64-bit home premium and all of my drivers for the 2nd time in 2 days to correct some very annoying freezing Issues that I have been having with my new ASUS G73JH-X1 laptop.

The Freezing started randomly yesterday while installing a program that would allow me to see my GPU/CPU thermal temps. After hitting ctrl+alt+delete and getting no response, I ended having to just turn the power off.

I restarted in safe mode and deleted the program that I was originally trying to install. Unfortunately as soon as I restarted in regular mode I was met with a freeze within 30-45 of signing into windows. I then decided to do wipe my hdd and do a Clean Install of Windows 7 and my Support Drivers from ASUS.

Well that worked for about 4 hours then while listening to music and web browsing the dreaded freeze happened, and it was back to square one. Next time I started my computer it froze within 30-45 of signing into windows.

    WTH is going on??

Is this a common Issue with my version of Windows 7?

Is it possibly a defect with my computer??

Am I hurting by re-installing my OS and drivers for the second time in 32 hours!?

Any answers, advice, moral support would be very much appreciated.

Well, it sounds like the freezing starting right after you installed that program may have been coincidental if it is still occurring after wiping the drive and reinstalling the OS. Have you tried running chkdsk to see if your HDD is the culprit... Alternately you might try running HDTune to see if there is any S.M.A.R.T. information that might give you a clue about what's going on.

In any case you won't do any physical damage reinstalling the OS, however I cannot say the same about the short term psychological impact of going nuts trying to find the reason for the problem... Good luck.
