    i quite like to be informed of a notebook's current state such as cpu temp, fan speeds, i have this on my desktop pc (pc alert), its not absolutely necessary but i like to see these things, are there any free utiities that i can download to do this?

    you can get a RightMark CPU Clock Utility or Notebook Hardware Control (just google them and you should be able to find them). Personally, I think that NHC, the latter, is better, but neither works on my computer because I only have a Celeron M processor

    I recommend NHC. I've been using it for a year now. it's a great Program!
