    external HDD partition

    hi ,
    got a lacie external HDD , now was trying to create a partition in this. followed some instructions like "how to" but got stuck at this point (image attached) .

    all i am wondering about those two tiny amount "volumes" like the first two highlighted ones. what actually they are?

    and yes :) some tips on "how to create partition" too.

    hmmm.. i might sound a lill' crazy..but does "Creating and formatting a partition in Windows" means creating partition in the main HDD or even works for External HDD.
    sorry for stupid question but just want to be sure.

    Most everything you can do to your main HDD you can also accomplish on your External HDD. i.e. you can create partitions and format your External HDD just as if it was your main HDD. Just make sure you right click on the correct drive within Disk Management.

    The statement "Within Windows" just means you are performing your activities from within a windows environment vs. DOS, Linux, or someother environment.
