I'm trying to restore my win 8 (upgraded to 8.1) laptop to factory settings in settings/change PC settings/recovery/remove everything and reinstall windows/get started.

An error message pops up saying "some files are missing. Your windows installation or recovery media will provide these files."

I tried resolving this problem by following options 1 and 2 in the below link. Didn't work. I don't have a media disk (no disk drive even), so can't try option 3. tried refreshing pc too - doesn't work either.

I called my computer manufacturing company for a recovery disk and said they don't have them for win 8 laptops.

Any other suggestions on how I can get my restore to factory settings working again?

    Thanks.
