    I have dissabled windows update on my PC but im getting the red sheild in my task bar, how can i get rid of this?

    i was experiencing this problem earlier after a fresh install and i THINK it goes away after a reboot. iirc it just went away after a few reboots.

    probably need to turn off your notifications in the security center.

    start menu-->programs-->accessories-->system tools-->security center-->change the way security center alerts me (left hand side).
