I use Diskeeper. Its better than XP's version, but I don't think it is the best on the market.

I also use Diskeeper. I think it does just fine, very quick compared and has pretty nice scheduling options. For $20, it wasn't a bad investment at all.

I haven't had experience with Diskeeper yet, but I might want to give it a shot. Does it have the option to rearrange files and directories, like Norton Speedisk does, or does it only defragment, like the Windows defragmenter?

Not sure about Diskeeper but O&O defrag does and it is my favorite defrag program so far. I'll have to check out diskeeper though. I used to use it yrs ago on my desktop but came across O&O and liked it better I seem to remember.

I like Diskeeper, it has great scheduling options. This includes something called "smart scheduling". You don't set dates and times, but you allow the Diskeeper service to run in the background (not a huge burden). The service defrags and reorganizes when necessary and convenient "no more, no less".

In addition, it is quick, and allows you to defrag/rearrange files intelligently. It also lets you defrag boot files, the MFT, and the Pagefile.

Diskeeper sounds good. Maybe I'll give it a try. I used to use norton speedisk, but I don't use Symantec based products anymore, so I'm stuck with windows defrag tool.

Thing is windows' defragmenting tool just sets stuff from start to finish, while others defrag files in priority of file use.

I like how Diskeeper has boottime defragging, I think I'll go "purchase" a copy. :D

    Cheers,
    Mike
