I have a lot of movies and TV shows on my Dvr through Time Warner cable and wanted to know how to copy them to my Laptop so I could watch them or perhaps burn them. I know its possible just don't know what I would need to do it. Your feedback is appreciated a lot Guys&Gals.

You could get a USB cable adapter that supports recording and plug the DVR directly to the laptop instead of the TV. You would lose some quality, but this would probably be the easiest way to do it. Your DVR may have a hack that allows a direct connection to a PC, and you could do a google search on this. If you are hell bent on doing it you could try pulling the HDD out of the DVR and pulling the movies off that way (I believe that some DVRs use codecs that are available for the PC).

    *edit*
I'm sorry, I meant a USB cable TV adapter, I've been up since 0300

I believe that model has a firewire port. You can try connecting a firewire cable to the box and your computer, and then use a video capture program to "copy" the movies. I've read some posts from people able to do it, and also people who aren't able to do it. It all depends if TW disabled the port.

Google the model number. If it can be done someone on one of the Video or HT forums has probably already posted how. Otherwise get a DVD recorder.
