Just recently got myself a c143xl tablet laptop and it's come with Vista, is it compatible with windows xp? Or should I be investing in windows 7?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

It's not something I want, hence the question.

...which means you are part of the "hype crowd"...

For XP you have to figure out if you can find all drivers.
Its an outdated OS though that won't use the resources of a modern computer efficiently.

Windows 7 is the same as Vista at its core - yes it starts up a bit quicker, reports RAM differently so you think you are using less of it when idling...

But its the same core OS.
The only advantage of Win7 is that its potentially a bit more touch optimized compared to Vista and that prehistoric product called XP.

The specs of your machine are more than enough to run Vista.
What I would recommend though is removing all extra bloatware the manufacturer put in from the system (sans the devices that need drivers to work).
Use Ccleaner to remove startup programs apart from the antivirus (well, replacing the demo/trial with free Avira or Microsoft security essentials would be the way to go), and that should be it.

what you might want to try would likely be to do a clean install of Vista (the version you have right now, and use the OEM key at the back of your notebook to activate it).

With SP2 and the latest updates, Vista should be working just fine ... though if you are not comfy with Vista, then yes, Windows 7 would be indeed worthy to invest into.

XP is quite out of date, so sticking with Vista or 7 would be the way to go.
