I'm collecting my new notebook next week and want to check for dead pixels before I take it, but since I ordered it without an operating system, I'm looking for something I can run from a bootable CD-rom.
I've been looking around but all the pixel testing software is for winxp and as far as I know Windows bootable CD's are system specific (can't make one since I don't have the notebook yet). I can't find a Linux pixel testing utility to run from Knoppix.
Advice, anyone?

why not create a bootable BartPE CD and have DeadPixelBuddy or your favourite dead-pixel testing program on it?

I thought you could only create a BartPE CD for a specific machine (so it includes drivers for all the components). You are saying I can make one on my old Asus that will run on a Zepto?

yeah, why not. If you include the HWPnP plugin (and/or other hardware-detection driver plugin), you should be able to boot on most PCs.

If your new Zepto uses a SATA HDD, you'll need to include the necessary SATA drivers on the disk.

Cool, thanks. Will try that tomorrow.
