So I decided to run chkdsk /r /f and on boot it gets stuck at a black screen after HP logo . Any ideas on a fix?

Depends on where it is getting stuck.

Do you get to the point where the it alerts you to a disk scan and counts down to 1 and stops, or are you looking at a blinking black cursor?

    btw, you don't do a

    chkdsk /r /f

/r assumes /f so it would be redundant.

Do a /f for a normal scan, do a /r for chkdsk on steroids.

Also, if you just do /r, does it hang?
