Probably a stupid question, but I need to ask it. I have a new laptop--my old one went obsolete years ago...anyway, I am trying to figure out how to keep ongoing files up to date between my desktop and my laptop. I used to use briefcase, but I can't seem to remember which programs will work with that, or how to use it for that matter. Do I need to directly connect the two computers to keep them current? What are my options for keeping the two computers up to date so that I can work with either or both of them?

You just copy files from one machine into the briefcase over the network. There's a sync button to keep the files up to date. Just don't edit one file in two places. It's not an idea software, but probably meets your needs.
