    Hi,

I just searched the thread and couldn't find any guides or posts in how to backup windows vista or windows 7. example: once we clean install the operating system, we can make an image of the whole OS and then burn it on one or more dvds. later we can just boot from this dvd to restore our operating system in case of any trouble. no need for installing from scratch.

backing up the whole drive is not useful i feel (30 or 40GB partition normally)

    thanks in advance.

hmm you can use Windows Backup (only in Premium/Pro/Ultimate/Business Versions) or you can use any image softwares like Norton Ghost , Acronis True Image , HDD clone and so on ...

I favor the use of Acronis for a clone. Have you also considered recovery CD/DVD as a second mean of back-up?

    cheers ...

As others have said: did you burn the set of recovery CD/DVDs your OEM license permits you to burn (that is, before you deleted the recovery partition)?

I recently tried out Macrium Reflect (Free Edition). I haven't tested the image that I created, but I do plan to test it soon.
