    Whenever I open the "Settings" menu it pop-up an error message:

    backgroundTaskHost.exe - System Error

    "The System detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application"

    Same error message will also pop up when I click on "Create new user account" but this time it's WWAHost.exe - System Error

    This happened after "Reset This PC" when I messed up with the security settings aka to change permissions for the C: drive.

    With obscure / system errors it's kind of a rabbit hole of issues to chase down. If you tinkered with permissions that's a surefire way to end up with odd errors.

    Two options:
    A. figure out the permissions issue / waste time dealing with it
    B. backup files you want to keep and just wipe the drive / reinstall Windows 10/11

    B will be quicker to do in some cases. B will give you a performance boost if things are aging since your last install of Windows / Programs.

    I will periodically wipe / install just for the sake of being up to date / clean. A good USB drive and a reinstall can be done in a 1/2 hour or so. If you want a quick recovery method then apply all updates, install all of your programs, and then make an image of your fresh install for a backup or clone the drive if you have one laying around.

    Hello Spartan! How are you? I've tried the Repair Upgrade but now I can't click the "Settings".

    I've just recently reinstalled about a month ago and don't really want to do the long process of reinstalling everything but will do as a last resort.

    EDIT:

    Finally found the solution for the not able to click the settings by:

    In the PowerShell window, type in the following command, then press Enter afterwards: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name windows.immersivecontrolpanel | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

    P.S

    @Spartan@HIDevolution It's been a long time since I've talked to you my friend, the last time we talked was on Teamviewer back in 2016 when I asked you to tweak my old GT80 Titan. You're also a Staff at Hidevolution now too? Good job man! I might be upgrading my current GT73VR sometime next year and will definitely going to ask for advice and discount. ;)
