What's the drive letter for your ready boost drive? I'll make the key on my computer, export it, and post it here.

    Hi.

thanks, but i dont think it`s worth the effort, I dont really want to mess with the registry.

Haha, okay. You could try a tool like tweakui, but that was for XP. Not sure if there is a Vista version or anything like that. Editing the registry is not a big deal if you know what you're doing. Almost all tasks you do (installs, uninstalls, etc) make changes to the registry.

Control panel >> Administrative tools (classic view) >> computer management >> double click on storage >> double click on disk management >> right click readboost drive and click on change drive letter and paths >> just click 'remove' and select OK.

    should work alright :)

nb if readyboost requires the target drive to have a letter, then you may have to leave it on.

People always have such simple logical approaches. Why do I always have to do things the hard way?

I just went to Windows Explorer, right-clicked on the drive, selected Properties, went to the ReadyBoost tab, and checked the box to "Stop retesting this device when I plug it in".

If it is a USB device, it would need to be connected. It essentially says to make this device ineligible for ReadyBoost.

    Hi.

Removing the drive letter appears to have worked, it no longer shows.

But it is their when i look in control panel, storage, but whether it still works is another thing.

    thanks

    John.
