Google drive is convenient and important because I no longer need to carry a physical USB stick around or to save important documents only on an offline device that will risk being lost or stolen. In addition, Google drive serves as a very good backup because I believe it's far more less likely to fail and lose the files than any other physical drives.

However, the problem is I always need to shift between files and it always gives some lag no matter I am on high-speed broadband, which is very discouraging for me.

However, I can't find any ways to edit the document on local drives, instead of doing it in a Chrome browser.

    Is there any tips?

Google Docs isn't meant to be a Microsoft Office replacement. It's only if you need to make quick changes on the fly. For any serious work, download the file, edit it with your preferred office suite, then re-upload when you're done.

Your online data can be stolen as well so to think otherwise is unwise already. You should have multiple location physical and cloud and USB as backup. Don't get schmooze into thinking cloud will be more secure then a offline drive.

Have you tried the the chrome browser extension for google docs offline? Even chromebooks can edit docs offline.

Nothing is safe now with air-gap hacking. :vbmad:

I know how to work with the google docs offline but my internet connection is permanent and the offline access of google docs is not very much faster.

    I have given up.

    I have another question

How to add header and footer to the Google Docs? Not Sheet

    Thanks

And how would you know they didn't steal it already? They have no legal disclosure that would force them if that happened.

Always the smart thing to do and then backup on ext HDD or USB not Cloud server farms.
