ok heres a stumper. in the last day or so my laptop has been picky about recognizing the AC adapter. it started after i moved it from part of my bros apartment to another and back again. is it the laptop or is the adapter going dead? my laptop is an ASUS G71GX from best buy. i am thinking of calling the geek squad and asking them what to do.

    ...what kind of "picky".

Does it suddenly speak to you and say "I do not like this adapter"??

If you loose the connection - see if you can move/wriggle the plug GENTLY (!!) and see if anything changes.

You can also try to check the PD of the adapter with a Voltmeter (i.e. measure voltage output)

In that case try measuring the voltage on the AC adapter - see if it outputs correctly.
    Else its the motherboard's connection.

i think i have found the cause. i was looking at the adapter and found that the cord coming from the power brick or whatever its called that gets plugged into the laptop is loose. could that be why it isnt charging?

Possible - I could imagine it got loose and broke an individual cable.
