My old toshiba just started this out of the blue. Startup repair turns on and I can't cancel it. Startup repair can't even solve the problem so every restart its just like a continuous loop. I tried booting through a usb key and startup repair shows up again!
    Help?

Go into the BIOS and switch SATA to Compatibility Mode then try and boot. If it ask for the repair disk insert it at that point. Sounds like your SATA drivers got messed up.
