Yahoo Password Change Question

Hey all. Im having issues logging into my primary gmail account as i posted this in my other thread. The thing is i have my account and password but apparently google doesn't let me in my account because the recovery email address i type is incorrect. I dont know how this is possible because its only a few emails it could be but in any case its incorrect.


I want to change my yahoo email address in case my account get compromised etc. But when i went to yahoo and click change password, it ask me this

Here is my issue. I log into yahoo mail on my laptop and my iphone SE. This iphone SE i already have my yahoo email entered into it already so i could view the email anytime. So i obviously have to change my password on my mail app in my iphone SE. What concerns me is i had an old iphone 4s that is in my old apartment in another country. I recently just flew from one country to another and that is probably why im locked out of my gmail account. Well that iphone 4s that i have in my old apartment, it doesn't work anymore because the battery/back of it sort of busted open. I never brought it anywhere to get it fixed/repaired etc. However, im pretty certain im signed into my yahoo and gmail account in the mail app as i typed in my account and password into it. So if someone were to get my broken iphone 4s and try to repair it or fix it, would they be able to start up my phone with all my information as they could view my emails?


Because if so, i want to change my yahoo email address right now but it mention you need to change the password in every device. I assume i wont need to change it in that old broken iphone 4s right? Because if not, i will change the password of it right now. Im concerned if someone gets my iphone 4s as its in my apartment in another country and do something with it etc. But could i change my yahoo password now and even if someone get access to my old broken iphone 4s, then they cannot log in because of password change? Or could i not change the password now because im logged into my yahoo email app in my broken iphone 4s. Im not 100 percent sure but im close to sure i entered my yahoo and gmail account/password into it where i could just view email like that.

 

I would say yes, probably.

It's been my experience that when you change your password, your devices stop syncing until you put the correct password back into them. If you change your password, your old iphone won't be able to sync anymore.
I've done a lot of yahoo password changes / recoveries in the past year due to an elderly family member getting locked out of their account almost on a weekly basis.

I would suggest this:

For now, only make changes to your yahoo account using your laptop.
You can recover yahoo passwords using an alternate email or cell phone number. I would set one of those up in case something happens.
Log into your yahoo on your laptop. Go to your account / security and verify you you have a recovery email setup for your yahoo email. or you can setup a recovery phone number that yahoo will text. For the phone number, yahoo will text you a pin to that number, which you will have to type back into yahoo for that phone to be added. This is the same with the alternate email. yahoo will email that alternate email and you would have to go into that email and click on the link for the recovery email to be added.

 

Hi there just to be sure. Change my password in yahoo on my laptop. Then go into my yahoo mail app on my iphone SE and then put in the new password since the password is already changed and thus i cant access my yahoo mail on my phone because of that right?

And once i do this, i have instant access of my yahoo email on my iphone SE. I could log into my email on computer with no issue. And if someone gets my iphone 4s and able to fix it and turn it on and they click on my yahoo email app or mail app which has my yahoo email logged in, they won't be able to because i changed my password correct?


Yes i already have a recovery email for that yahoo account. But i want to know is there a way to remove the iphone 4s from being connected to my yahoo email account? Because when i logged into my gmail account which i couldnt get into because it got locked because entered the wrong recovery email and finally got it right, i was able to go in settings and then look at how many devices were connected to my gmail... which was my laptop, iphone se and the iphone 4s. So i removed the iphone 4s etc. Thus i want to know does yahoo email have this setting or show it where i could remove the old iphone?

Yes those steps are correct. As long as the iPhone 4s phone number is not listed in yahoo as a recovery phone number you should be fine. If you transferred the 4s phone number to your new SE and the 4s no longer has cell service, you should also be fine.
