    Buying a new laptop.
Should I get it with Xp or Vista? And which bits?
I've always had XP... So vista would be knew, although ive used it for brief hours on others computers.
I plan on using this for another 3years or so. So would games still be compatible with XP by than?
Also I like the black bar at the bottom for vista (where the start button and your tray bar and clock and everything is).
Any way to make XP's like that? And the pop up boxes.
Basically I like the look of vista but hate the performance problems i've been hearing, so any guide to make XP look a bit like vista?
I'd love to go with that idea if XP will be just as compatible with games and apps and stuff in a few years.
So, Vista Home Premium 64Bit, vs XP Home SP2.
Now it doesnt give the option of bits for the XP.
    Does that mean its 32bit?
    It just says.
Windows XP Home SP2 with drivers and blah blah CD.
    Thanks in advance.

Oh and, if I go with XP, 3GB RAM should be enough, correct?

definitely go with vista as it is much better and all those performance problems were in the past and only relevant for upgrades not with pcs that came with vista.

Vista if you want to play games on Dx10, if you dont care go for XP, 3gb are more than enough for XP.

There is a 64bit version for XP too just a bit harder to find than Vista, id stay with the 32bit though, except if you care so much about the 1gb ram you are going to lose (since most people go for 2x2gb ram) which you will never use ;)

I prefer Vista! :D It's worked out just fine for me.

I had XP on my desktop and liked it. But when I purchased my 1530..it came with Vista Home Premium, and has worked out fine!

Now, nearly a year later...I have a new Mini 9, and that came loaded with XP!

So, I guess I'm getting the best of both! :D

Well I plan to play games like GTA IV, Crysis. And such.
And all you guys on here are saying XP is better for those so uh yeah lol
Also, is 3GB RAM enough for Vista or go with the 4GB?
On a budget, trying to cram as much stuff as I can into it. But not pointless stuff.

Vista. I have used it since January 30, 2007 and it is so much better than it originally was. All of those problems you used to hear about are basically all cleared up. I've never had any problems with Vista, it is more compatible with your hardware, and you won't have to start one of those threads about "XP drivers for my (brand) (model)".

So sorry to change the subject in this thread, but instead of starting a new one....
3GB or 4GB RAM for gaming on Vista Home Premium 64bit?

Go with Vista and a generous amount of RAM. 3 to 4GB is a good amount to use.
