    XP or Vista for an older dell lappy?

    I have an old m170 xps laptop that im gonna keep around for kicks. I'm unsure of what OS to load on it. I have the following OSs on hand

    Vista business
    xp pro


    I might hook it up to a tv sometimes, if that matters. lol


    2.00 ghz
    1 gb ram
    6800 go
    broadcom 570x
    intel prowireless 2915abg

    I say Vista (with SP1) since it's very stable now with a much better driver support. People have gotten it to run somewhat well with 1 GB of memory, but if you're willing to try, you can get SP2 (beta) and see if that helps.

    Edit: Vista's security features (even if they are annoying) is much better than XP's security, so that's another plus for Vista.

    It largely depends on the specs of the system in question. If you were to post those, we might be able to give you useful suggestions.

    I loaded up vista, but am running into ethernet controller problems.

    The xps gen 2 uses the Broadcom 570x gigabit. I downloaded the new drivers off of the broadcom site, but am still seeing amber lights and getting limited connectivity to the net.
