If I have an XP Pro 64-bit license can I use it to activate XP Pro 32-bit?

I couldn't see why not, as you can use a 32Bit license for 64Bit...

Question is - why do you want to downgrade? I supsect you have encountered a problem?

Nope, sadly XP's 32 vs 64 bit licensing is not like that of Vista's.
@ above - that's not true, only true for Vista.
XP Pro X64 is such a pain... it's gotten better since more vendors support 64 bit as Vista X64 grows... but XP 64 is still a disaster. I wouldn't consider going from XP X64 to XP X86 to be a downgrade really.

There are some variables here but in general the license is for "Pro" and not 64 or 32 bit....so yes.

With XP, 32-bit and 64-bit versions use different keys. If you bought 64-bit, you will not be able to install 32-bit with the same key.

Yes and another thing. XP x64 is closer to Server 2003 than to XP.

I also tried that, it doesn't work the way it works for Vista unfortunately, but I wouldn't install XP 64 bit if I were you, too many compatibility problems unless u are certain u have the correct drivers, but for my hp laptop dv5 it was a bad idea,
I am running Windows 7 64 Bit now and never gonna use anything else ever! superb, blistering fast, stable
