    Hi - i'm trying to extract contents of a zipped file using WINRAR in a folder & getting the following errors...

    ' Total path and file name length must not exceed 260 characters '

    How can i rectify this problem ?

    try to extract it to a shorter directory like the c:

    Or if the WinRAR (or internal directories) have a long file name rename them temporarily to something shorter and easy to remember which tends to work for me when I extract them out.

    The error message says it all... I wonder what was not clear - path is too long.

    It would have been more clear as:

    otherwise makes you think there is something wrong with the .rar file, and not the destination you have chosen.

    to me it is clear that it is about the destination having in mind the archive opens correctly and is usable, just not extractable...

    it was also clear for me, but error messages should be clear for average, totally basic users...

    but again, part of my job is bug-fixing software and its documentation... so I might be a bit OCD about this...
