Hi, ok this may sound weird, but i'd say about 2-3 months ago i was having a nightmare blah blah blah and basically in me sleep i picked up my laptop and smashed it against the floor... i woke up and it didnt look too damaged but when i turned it on it came up with startup repair and it said "searching for errors this may take over an hour" so i left it on over night and waited over 20 hours and nothing.. So i got a copy of my friends windows 7 on an iso file and i burned it to a usb and tried to reinstall windows that way, so when its installing i fill in all the information such as Uk etc. When the installation starts it just stays on 0% and the thing next to it that is suppost to be moving to show it is installing is just still and it looks as if nothing is happening, it hasnt crashed because i can still click exit and minimize etc. So i thought i'd just wait for a while to see if it makes any progress but it doesnt after another 20 hours... After window 7 not installing i tried windows 8 etc. and still nothing. Does anyone know why this has happend? Could it possibly be something damaged inside the computer? Afterall i did smash it against the floor.. Had this problem for months and really want to get the laptop working, please help me! Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
Which laptop are we discussing here to begin with?
My initial hunch would be that the hard drive might have been damaged. -
Hi thanks for replying, it's a red packard bell TK laptop 6GB RAM intel i-3 processor, same as this but slightly different specs: Buy Packard Bell TK Laptop (Intel Core i3, 4GB, 750GB, 15.6" Display) Red from our All Laptops range - Tesco.com
So some guy on yahoo answers said the same thing as you and luckily i have a spare 2.5inch 500gb sata hard drive lying round and im going to get a copy of my friends windows 7 soon and see if it installs ok. -
If you really smashed your laptop on the floor then it may be bricked. But try the hard drive replacement first.

it could also be that the dvd drive is bricked that can not read the disc, try install with an external dvd drive
Windows installation stuck on 0%?
