Hello. I'v got a problem. After reinstaling windows XP my notebook battery isn't detected in device manager. I can see only "unknown device" in battery group :( So I can't see battery status in power management. Where is the problem? I don't have drivers CD and also can't find battery driver on internet. Maybe something bad with windows version?(I instaled WinXP Pro, and later added service pack2). Notebook model - HP Pavilion dv4000.
    Screens from device manager:

This might not be the solution, but it may help to clean thte contacts of the battery. A few people have had this problem, i believe, and i think its been because the battery wasn't making a proper connection. Hope this helps.

But before reinstaling windows everything was ok and now I can also work without AC adapter, only on battery. Anyway I'll try to clean contacts :)

If cleaning the contacts didn't work, then yes, there is probably something wrong with the driver. Try and see if you can download the driver from anywhere. I think it is a universal driver, meant for all notebooks. If that doesn't, then you may need to reinstall windows. It is possible that maybe the driver wasn't installed properly when you reinstalled. Windows Installations can miss things out.
