I updated Windows XP Professional today.

Now I am having problems returning to the previous login settings which were messed up by the update.

Before the update, my computer would automatically boot into my user account without showing the login screen or asking for a password. It is literally booting straight into Windows XP.

This was changed by the update. I have already used Control Userpasswords2 to disable the login screen and password prompt. However, the system is booting into “Administrator” account rather than my usual user account, which also has Administrator privileges.

Anyone know a method to make Windows boot into my user account instead of Administrator?

Problem has been solved. Just in case anyone else has the same problem here is the solution:

    1. Run “Control Userpasswords2” command to launch “User Accounts” window. Select the box so that users are prompted to enter user name and password. Reboot.

    2. Return to “User Accounts” window. Click to highlight the account you want to automatically boot into on the list of “User Accounts for This Computer”. Then click Apply. Confirm the prompt.

    3. Reboot and the problem should be solved.

Rep begging is looked down on around these parts. ;) Nevertheless, good post. I remember using TweakUI to set autologin, I forgot about userpasswords2. :)
