    Hi there,
    I'm gonna order a notebook without an OS because I can get a download copy of Vista Ultimate for only €65. My school has this special offer.
    My question is: How does this work?
    My notebook will arrive with no OS so how can I install a downloaded thing?
    I assume I should burn the OS file I downloaded to a CD on another computer, how does this work?

    The OS you download will be a disc image, which you can then burn onto a CD/DVD. You can then boot your new notebook from the CD/DVD, and install Windows normally.

    Windows Vista would be around 2GB, XP around 500Mb.

    XP is about 700MB, actually.
    Vista is about 3GB I believe.
