I have Vista Home Premium, and it's supposed to have the Snipping Tool for taking screen shots, but it doesn't show up in my "Applications" folder nor does it do anything when I press "WIN+S".

Is is disabled by default and I need to enable it? Where would I do this? Thanks in advance for the help.

It is included in the Tablet PC options. Go to Control Panel\Programs\Turn Windows Features On-Off and check on the Tablet PC Optional Components.

I placed a shortcut to it (C:\WINDOWS\System32\SnippingTool.exe) in my custom toolbar.

Thanks. I disabled the Tablet PC options because I don't have a tablet PC and it'd just take up resources :D But I might have to enable it every now and then..

Does disabling the Tablet PC options remove the executable? If not, it should still be usable. If it does remove it, you should be able to make a copy of it so that it persists after removal. It is probably a stand-alone module.

Yea I was thinking of just finding the executable and copy or shortcut it. Whatever works best. Thanks again.

I think you still need the Tablet service running. I just tried that and it did not work. I copied the snipping tool exe to my desktop then went to Turn Windows Features On and Off and unchecked the Tablet PC Optional Components. Snipping tool would not work.

Thanks for checking. I like the Snipping Tool, so I planned to leave the Tablet services running myself. Good to know, though!

I enabled the Tablet PC Optional Components last night on my laptop and the snipping tool works/appears. Thanks for the help. And yes, if you copy the executable, but disable the Tablet PC Services the snipping tool doesn't work.
