    I don't see the connection.

There wouldn't really be a point to connecting an XBOX to your notebook, would there be?

I can think of a few reasons, like recording game play into a digital movie to share over the internet. However its hardly the software that matters as much as the hardware first of all.

If you hook it up then basically anything that you have on your notebook that can be played in Media Center you can play on your 360 in Media Center. It's kind of cool but it doesn't work too well unless you've got both devices on an A/N connection or wired connections. I've got both my PC and 360 on a G connection and it's not very good :/

There's an option for Windows Connect and for Media Center. I highly suggest the first option. My desktop is two floors up on a B+ card and my 360 is G. Streaming music is great and I can also stream wmv's too. Playback with the video files is fine after a 10ish second buffer time. Media center is sluggish since it takes forever to load thumbnail previews....so I suggest you use the media tab>music/pictures/video rather than the media center option on the 360.
