I have a few files that i want to play in windows media center or even windows media player. According to the GSpot application I need the FMP4 Codec. When I open the file in windows media center I get an error that one or more codec isn't installed. When I Use windows media player, I get the audio but no video. I'm weary of installing codec packs and wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem. the file I'm trying to play was a dvd of mine that I had Ripped. It was in the AVI format. Thanks for anyhelp or advice.

I think whyt happened is that the codec packs you installed aren't exgtensive enough...

I personally use DivX and ffdshow - personally its all I need...

So, no, I haven't encountered your error - sorry :(
